Color Me Pink I Boise Photographer

Its 1 am, sappy love songs are playing on my itunes and my productivity as flown out the window. I start getting distracted and one thing leads to another. I eventually find myself looking through images of my trip to the United Kingdom this last November, remembering some good times. I stumble upon a few images and I just have to tell their story!

I catch myself laughing because it’s way to rare to actually be working on a personal piece. There is so much freedom and refreshment when you don’t have to worry about pleasing a client or worrying about the business side of things. I always love those moments when I remember why I fell in love with photography in the first place…enjoy!

Michalski Family I Boise Photography

This is one of my favorite families! Anyone that has the privilege of knowing them, feels apart of their family. They are full of life and love. It was so fun photographing them. Their daughter was such a doll I had to feature her as my current blog header image. I’m excited to continue to photograph their ever growing family.

Sisters I Boise Photographer

Being the only girl in my family, I have always wondered what it would be like to have a sister. I’m blessed now with two sister-in-laws and love them, so when I have an opportunity to photograph sisters I always cherish their interactions together and their friendships with each other.

Seeing Potential I Boise Photographer

Wow, I think I had to brush away some cobwebs on my blog before i could start typing. Sorry for those looking for updates here, hopefully you haven’t all given up. I keep thinking i’ve posted all my ideas and events that have happened, but sometimes my priorities push my “great ideas” to the back burner.

I was privileged to be a photography/art judge for the 2012 Fine Arts Festival this year. A nation wide competition for the youth ministries (grades 6th-12th). Its just me and two other judges as we start at an isle of work and try our best to help guide up and coming artists to improve their work and hopefully find ourselves being inspired.

Isn’t that how photography/art works? Looking at a subject and in your mind seeing what it could be. Visualizing the end result before you even press the shutter button. Seeing something beautiful that to the plain eye could just be ordinary or even just fair. Thats why I always shy away from showing clients too much before the finish product, because often times the general public has a hard time visualizing with you.

I have high hopes for this up and coming generation of artists and excited to hear how the few that we offered invitations to nationals in Nashville do.

Monday Make it Work I Boise Photographer

Click, open, read, reply, organize, repeat. This is what my screen looks like this morning as I did much needed damage control and reorganization of my emails. Its amazing how quickly they can get out of hand! The business side is often not the artist’s strongest side and definitely not the most look forward to part of the job description. However, it is a major necessity…so as I wanted to to just close my computer and pick up my camera…I’m reminded of my man Tim Gunn’s trademark words this monday morning…”Make It Work.”
